Hit the new year running…literally
Laser Hair Removal & your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions
So you have hit the new year running…literally. You have many to do lists and one of your top priorities of the year is to live a much healthier life. So how does this go hand in hand with laser hair removal?
Laser Hair Removal & Gym:
We are all for the fitness life, but when it comes to laser hair removal you need to ditch the physical exercise for the day of your treatment. If you’re an early bird and you can hit the gym before your laser treatment, that’s fine. But directly after your treatment and for 12hours after your treatment, it is advised not to plan any physical activities. Why do we say so? Your skin might be slightly irritated directly after your session, thus we don’t want to create any unnecessary irritation. When it comes to Bikini areas & facial treatments, we don’t want the sweat & friction to create any redness or itchiness. Furthermore, the nylon pants that ladies generally train in, could lead to rashes, we don’t want that! So rather just skip the training after your laser treatment so rather just skip the training after your laser treatment.
Laser Hair Removal & Supplements:
In your consultation, if you have visited us before, you would have noticed us asking if you are on any photosensitive medication. Health & fitness supplements generally are photosensitive, meaning it could lead to unwanted reactions after your laser treatment. If you have changed any medication or supplement intake due to your New Year’s Fitness Resolution, or in that matter due to any reason, it is extremely important to share this information with your laser therapist. If you are unsure about weather your supplements are photosensitive or not, bring it along to your treatment and we will do the quick check for you. Should you still want to go ahead with your treatment you need to understand the T’s & C’s that go hand in hand with this decision.
Laser Hair Removal & hot detoxing baths:
Hot Baths, messages, saunas & steam rooms- activities clients usually get up to after intense workouts or having stiff bodies. Once again, these activities could irritate the skin after a laser hair removal treatment, and lead to rashes and red skin. Rather avoid them for 24hours post your laser treatment.
Laser Hair Removal & Tanning:
What is a toned peach without a tan? So you ask, can I tan & do laser hair removal? Ideally, no. Because we work on your natural melanin levels, we don’t want any superficial changes done to your melanin levels (this means how brown you are). Our settings are based on analysing how brown you naturally are & how you react to the sun naturally. Changing your natural “brownness” could lead to deceiving settings and undesired results. But we are also lovers of the sun & tanning our peaches, so what now? In our consultations if you were exposed to direct sunlight under a month ago, our settings immediately decrease, which means you could be treated at a much lower rate that you ideally could have been treated at. Which is fine, you can still be treated, but not at the rate you could have. Our laser is safe on all skin types, which means no matter how white or brown you are, we can treat you, just at different rates, which means achieving desired results at different passes. When it comes to spray tanning, it is ideal to book your spray tan I day post to your laser treatment, otherwise we just wipe it off anyways.
It sounds quite limiting when reading this article, but its all bout getting your activities in sync- First come for your laser Hair Removal sessions for the month and then a day later, get to your other “to do’s”
